Dublin defender Paul Casey has said that their next league encounter against Cork on Saturday week cannot come soon enough as the Dubs try to make up form for some patchy league form.

The vital Allianz NFL Division 1A tie is vital for Dublin and is seen as a must win game if they are to preserve their current league status.

Following defeats by Tyrone and Donegal and the slimest of victories over Limerick, the Dubs have been criticised for their poor form which Casey believes is largely justified.

Speaking in today's Irish Times, Casey said: 'We just didn't come up with the performance against Donegal and we got the result we deserved.

'We're all very disappointed. But I think the main priority now is to preserve our division status for next year.'

He added: 'The first half performance against Tyrone was quite good, we just weren't good in the second half. But we learnt again from that and picked it up for a hard-fought win over Limerick.

'Against Donegal we just didn't perform again, so we'll have to pick up against Cork, and that game can't come soon enough really.'
