Sean Cavanagh will captain the Tyrone senior football team this weekend in the absence of the suspended Ryan McMenamin.

Cavanagh was an obvious choice for Mickey Harte having led the side in two of the three Dr McKenna Cup games they played last month.

Now he will lead the Red Hands out for their floodlit NFL clash with Ulster neighbours Fermanagh at Healy Park on Saturday evening.

McMenamin received a four week ban after receiving a straight red card in the win over Dublin at Croke Park last weekend.

Cavanagh is the third captain manager Harte has had to appoint this season.

Last year's skipper, Brian Dooher, was confirmed in the role just after Christmas, but will not play until March at the earliest due to long-term injury.
