The line-up for the semi-finals of the 2007 Dr McKenna Cup has been confirmed today, after the final group games.
Tyrone, the title holders who beat Cavan to qualify last night, will take on Section A runners-ups Monaghan in the last-four of the Gaelic Life-sponsored tournament.
In next Sunday's other semi-final, Armagh, who topped Section A, will clash with Section C winners Donegal.
Brian McIver's Donegal side notched a 2-11 to 0-11 victory over Down at Ballyshannon this afternoon, with Leon Thompson and Adrian Sweeney (penalty) grabbing their goals.
The Tir Chonaill men were 2-05 to 0-05 at half-time, and those first half goals were very much needed as Longstone clubman Barry Doran hit six excellent frees, from a variety of angles and distances, during the second period.
Thompson struck his goal after 25 minutes, and Sweeney's penalty, on the stroke of half-time, came at an ideal time.
Helped by the return of former All Star Brendan Devenney, who is back from his holidays having ended his soccer stint with Portadown, Donegal did enough to warrant their third successive group win.
Devenney shot an encouraging 0-06 (2f), with Christy Toye and Rory Kavanagh coming off the bench to help the hosts see out the win.
Down had Colm Murtagh sent-off for his second bookable offence near the finish, but the Glenn player did well during his time on the pitch and along with Doran, who ended with 0-07 (7f), Aidan Burns and Martin McClean, he has given Ross Carr some welcome selection headaches for the National League.
Armagh confirmed their passage through with a 0-09 to 0-06 defeat of Monaghan in Clones.
Steven McDonnell sent over the final two points of the game for the Orchard men, who had a one man advantage for the closing stages after Monaghan's Dessie Mone saw red.
UUJ finished in second place in Section C as they took the scalp of Antrim in a 1-14 to 1-08 victory at Casement Park.
The Jordanstown students built up a 0-07 to 0-03 half-time lead with corner forward Paddy Cunningham nabbing four points against his county side.
A Paul Doherty goal really put UUJ in the driving seat. Kevin Brady's major saw the Saffrons mount a late charge but four late points for Mickey Moran's youngsters confirmed the away win.
In Section A's other game, Fermanagh and St Mary's played out a 1-07 to 0-10 draw at Tempo.
Fergal Reilly's sixth-minute goal got Fermanagh up and running but they were behind 0-07 to 1-03 at the break.
The sides saw out the game with 14 players apiece as the students' Leo Meenan and Fermanagh defender Shane McDermott were dismissed for fighting in the 45th-minute.
Derry got the better of Queen's, winning by 1-10 to 0-10 to end their Section B run on a winning note at Celtic Park.
Conleth Gilligan hit three points to add to Paul O'Hea's 26th-minute goal as the Oak Leafers held the aces.
Steelstown clubman O'Hea, a newcomer to the Derry panel, had a wry smile as his through ball squirmed away from the grasp of Queen's goalkeeper Fergal Murphy and found the net.
