GPA chief executive Dessie Farrell will today try to gain official recognition for his association when he meets the GAA's recently-appointed Player Welfare Officer Pauric Duffy.
A framework to facilitate discussions has been agreed with the GAA seeking official recognition of the GPA as a body to represent senior inter-county footballers and hurlers.
Duffy's job is to ensure that all counties are are in agreement with agreed player welfare initiatives such as medical welfare, commercial opportunities and rehabilitaion programmes.
But the GPA believe that some counties remain in beach of this code and want further assurances from the GAA that players' welfare will be brought to the forefront as the new GAA season begins.
