Long-serving Donegal defender Damian Diver has called time on his inter-county career.
Diver, who is 32, and had returned to training in recent weeks announced his retirement this week.
The Donegal man revealed: 'It was a difficult decision and one that I did not take lightly, but with business and other commitments, I no longer could give the time it takes.
'It is something that has been on my mind for some time, but I only made my mind up in the last couple of weeks, and since we returned to training. To be honest, the thought of travelling to Castlefin for training twice a week and away at weekends no longer appealed to me.'
'This and the fact that Brian (McIver) has assembled a young squad also played a part in the decision,' confessed the former wing-back.
Diver who insisted there was no rift between himself and manager Brian McIver, told the manager and the rest of the Donegal squad at training on Tuesday night.
The stylish wing-back, who also played corner-back in his time, featured in over 100 games for Donegal since he made his debut back in 1995, in a National League game against Meath in Navan.
In his 11-year county career, he played in four Ulster finals, ending up on the losing side on all four occasions.
He admitted: 'My great regret is that we did not win one of those Ulster finals.'
He also played in one National League final. Diver will continue to play for his club Ardara.
