An experimental Monaghan side proved no match for Louth at Dundalk as Shane Lennon guided the hosts to a 3-13 to 1-13 win and a place in the Tommy Murphy Cup semi-finals.

The Kilkerley forward amassed a personal tally of 3-05 as Louth set up a last-four clash with Antrim next weekend.

Lennon rippled Padraig McBennett's net twice in the opening half to help his side towards a 2-07 to 1-06 interval lead. Castleblayney's Ciaran Hanratty netted for the visitors.

Louth, who were also under strength – manager Eamonn McEneaney had only 17 players at training on Monday night, managed to increase their advantage in the second half.
