The management committee of the Wexford county board has voted to seek arbitration from the Disputes Resolution Authority in a bid to overturn Matty Forde's 12-week ban.

Forde was handed the suspension after he apparently stamped on Offaly's Shane Sullivan during Wexford's Leinster Championship defeat to Offaly last month.

Although the incident was missed by the referee at the time, the Central Disciplinary Committee used video evidence in their investigation to sanction Forde.

Forde had his appeal rejected by the GAA's Central Appeals Committee on Monday night but Wexford have opted to pursue the matter, drafting in barrister and former Tyrone star Fergal Logan.

Logan successfully represented Tyrone's Ryan McMenamin following a fracas in the Ulster final replay against Armagh last season.

The case could ultimately appear in the High Court if a resolution is not found.
