Ja Fallon is poised for a shock return to the Galway football team to take on Westmeath in the All-Ireland qualifiers at Pearse Stadium next Saturday night.
The former Footballer-of-the-Year has stepped down as a selector in Peter Ford's management team to make himself available for the clash with Westmeath.
Fallon, twice an All-Ireland winner, told the squad at training on Sunday that he was no longer acting as a selector and that he was making himself available for Saturday's do-or-die clash with Westmeath.
The 33-year-old has not played championship football for Galway since they lost an All-Ireland quarter-final replay to Donegal in Castlebar in August 2003.
