Fermanagh v Wexford preview

A decision on Matty Forde's 'stamping' incident is expected tonight
A decision on Matty Forde's 'stamping' incident is expected tonight

There will be no prizes for guessing what topic will be dominating the terraces in Enniskillen on Saturday afternoon as Fermanagh host Wexford, throw-in at 5.30pm.

The controversy surrounding Matty Forde will be (if the GAA are good to their word) sorted out for once and for all and both sides (and possibly the player) can concentrate on playing football.

Fermanagh have been showing consistent form this summer and are capable of running all day and pick off opposing teams with the talent of Mark Little and Tom Brewster.

Wexford also have a fit, young side and will vary their play depending on the availability of Forde. They may not be as dependent on Forde as everyone thinks and will focus on preventing the opposition playing with the ball if he is not taking part.

Fermanagh should win either way but this could prove to be the tie of the round as both sides did not fulfil their potential in their provincial championships. Goals will decide the outcome.

Verdict: Fermanagh
