Offaly's Paschal Kellaghan receives attention at Croke Park last Sunday

An emergency meeting of the Kildare County Board's executive will take place tonight to discuss the fall-out from the Leinster Council's decision to allow the result of their match against Offaly to stand.

The Leinster Council had requested Croke Park's Central Council to interpret the rule governing blood substitutions.

However, the Management Committee of the GAA decreed that this would not be an appropriate course of action.

It expected that Kildare will take their case to the Disputes Resolution Authority.

Tomorrow evening's draw for the first round of the All-Ireland qualifiers will go ahead on the basis that Kildare cannot be drawn against Westmeath.

The row centres over Offaly full-forward Pascal Kellaghan, who was forced off in the first half of last Sunday's game and replaced by James Coughlan as a blood substitution.

However, when Kellaghan came back on for the second half, he took the place of Trevor Phelan and not Coughlan.

Offaly won the game on a scoreline of 3-09 to 0-15.
