Healy Park to be a leading light

Omagh's Healy Park is set to become the first provincial ground to unveil its new floodlighting system.

Grounds in all four provinces are to have lighting installed under a  scheme announced by the GAA last year, and Tyrone's premier venue is almost ready to flick the switch.

Red Hand officials had been hoping to stage the Ulster Under-21 Football Championship final under lights on Easter weekend, but a delay in installing a generator has scuppered those plans.

"The floodlights are up and they are looking very impressive," County Chairman Pat Darcy confirmed.

"Unfortunately there's  a bit of a delay with the generator, so we won't be able to test them out for a couple of weeks yet, but we still expect to be the first provincial ground to light up."

Darcy is looking forward to an exciting new era for Gaelic football in the county, with regular evening ties, including televised games.

But officials still expect Healy Park to be the first provincial round to light up.
