GAA to meet over Healy Park incident

Dublin and Tyrone players come to blows in Healy Park

The GAA's Central Appeals Committee will meet on Tuesday night to hear the appeals of the seven Dublin and Tyrone players suspended in the wake of the Healy Park dust-up.

Tyrone trio Kevin Hughes, Owen Mulligan and Michael McGee, along with Dublin's Ciaran Whelan, Alan Brogan, Kevin Bonner and Bryan Cullen, are due to attend the Croke Park hearing.

Six of the seven were hit with eight-week bans, with Cullen suspended for four weeks, after the Central Disciplinary Committee carried out and investigation into the incidents which marred an explosive NFL tie on February 5.

Should all or any of the appeals fail, the Disputes Resolution Authority could be brought in to adjudicate on any subsequent action by the players concerned.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte is hoping for a successful outcome from the hearing.

He has already been forced to draft in five additional players to his squad to cover for suspensions and injuries.

"It's not prudent to pre-empt what anyone might do. Suffice to say that the players feel they have reason to go with an appeal," said Harte.

"So it's up to those who are sitting on that body to determine the validity of that or not, so we'll have to wait and see what they say."

Harte brought his players together for an indoor training session in Ballygawley today (Sun) after the National League clash with Cork was postponed due to a weather-ravaged pitch in Omagh.

Dublin, meanwhile, scored a narrow win over an Offaly side that will face Tyrone next Sunday at Tullamore.
