Meath's Mark Ward has been handed an eight-week suspension by the GAA's Central Disciplinary Committee following an incident in the Royal County's defeat to Down earlier this month.
Ward was sent-off during the match in Newcastle after lashing out at Down forward Eoin McCartan in the closing stages. The CDC, who met last night, confirmed his suspension would start from February 5, the date of the game.
Meanwhile, Anthony Dunne of Athlone IT was suspended for four weeks from the date of the Keogh Cup game against Meath on January 29.
Elsewhere, Paul McDonnell, Glenariff (Aontroim) was suspended for twelve weeks from the same date following his dismissal in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling semi-final defeat to Ballinhassig.
Following reviews of suspensions of Ardfert's Simon Sinnott and Brendan Murphy of Cahirlistrane, it was decided that their suspensions still stand.
