An injury-time goal from Cork debutant Daniel Goulding was not enough to prevent Offaly from taking the spoils in Tullamore.
Offaly powered into a 0-07 to 0-02 lead by the interval with John Reynolds (2), Tomas Deehan, Ross Connor (3) and Niall McNamee hitting the on target. Kevin O’Sullivan and Conor McCarthy landed Cork’s points.
Cork continued wasting possession into the second half as Offaly goalkeeper Padraig Kelly palmed away two goal shots and a run of four points, with Niall and Alan McNamee both adding to their tallies, confirmed a valuable home win.
