Meath football manager Eamonn Barry has claimed that he made an error of judgement by going public with his criticism of the Meath County Board.

Barry faces a vote of no confidence on Monday night and, in a bid to rally support from the county's clubs, he yesterday stated that he is prepared to apologise to anybody for his criticism of the Meath County Board.

Barry said: "I would have to admit that I read the situation wrong. I openly admit that. If I thought for one moment that requesting that Dessie Rogers be my physio would cause such a reaction I certainly wouldn't have done it."

Barry feels he was undermined by the members of the executive board.

Referring to his relationship with Meath chairman Fintan Ginnity he said: "I was dealing with a man who I hadn't seen eye-to-eye with for the last couple of years, and I suppose I read it the wrong way."

A poll on local radio station LMFM has yielded 81 per cent support for Barry to stay on as manager.
