Cavan Gaels set up an Ulster semi-final against Bellaghy of Derry next Sunday in the Ulster Club Football Championship.

However, they had to withstand a late rally from Monaghan champions Latton before eventually emerging 0-12 1-07 winners in their delayed quarter-final played in Enniskillen.

Four points from Seanie Johnston and three from Cormac Nelligan helped Gaels lead 0-08 to 0-03 at the interval.

The Cavan outfit extended their lead to 0-11 to 0-04 with nine minutes left.

However, Noel Coyle's goal and points from John O'Brien, Eoin Duffy and Aidan Farmer left two points between the team as the Gaels endured a nervous finish.

It was also quarter-final day in the AIB Leinster Club Championship.

Dublin champions Kilmacud Crokes will have learned little from their comfortable 1-14 to 0-03 victory over St Peter's of Dunboyne at Páirc Tailteann. Inter-county star Ray Cosgrove clocked up 1-10 for the winners.

Elsewhere, there was disappointment for Laois inter-county star Colm Begley as he prepares to depart for Australia.

His Stradbally side racked up 11 wides as they were beaten 1-06 0-06 by Offaly champions Rhode in Tullamore.

A powerful second half display from Sarsfields saw the Kildare champions overcome Eire Óg of Carlow on a scoreline of 1-12 0-08.

And Mattock Rangers of Louth edged out Wexford champions Horsewood by a single point, their 1-09 1-08 winning margin enough to see them through.

Seven-times All-Ireland champions Nemo Rangers advanced to the Munster semi-final after their comprehensive 1-13 0-06 victory over Tipperary's Ardfinnan, while Limerick's Monaleen drew with St Senan's of Clare, 1-13 0-06.

The replay will take place next Saturday.

In the Kerry football championship, South Kerry recorded a second title in a row defeating Dr Crokes 0-12 to 1-06.

Declan O'Sullivan lifted the cup while Maurice Fitzgerald finished the game with three points.

Colm Cooper scored 1-02 for Dr Crokes.
