Crofton gets Kildare job

Former player John Crofton has been appointed as the new Kildare senior football manager.

His selectors will be former All-Star defender Davy Dalton and Kerry 1975 All-Ireland medallist Pat McCarthy.

Crofton succeeds Padraig Nolan as manager of the Lilywhites, having served as a selector under Mick O'Dwyer during his reign in the hotseat.

As a player he was a highly rated full-back and has made a name for himself on the club scene, having led Round Towers to the 2003 Leinster club final.
