The GAA have confirmed that this year's International Rules Series between Ireland and Australia will be played in Perth and Melbourne in October.
The first match will be held at Subiaco Oval in Perth on October 21, and the second will be played at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne on October 28.
This will be the first time that an International rules test match has been held in the Telstra Dome, as Ireland's previous visits to Melbourne saw them play at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of a huge crowd.
GAA President Sean Kelly welcomed the news and said: "The International dimension has provided an unprecedented opportunity for the top players from both codes to come together and represent their respective countries."
"The series has gone from strength to strength in recent years and I am sure there will again be enormous interest among the Irish sporting public in the visits to Perth and Melbourne in October."
Kelly's counterpart of the AFL – operations manager Adrian Anderson is hoping for crowds to match those of the 2003 series. 41,000 fans turned up for the first test at the Subiaco Oval in 2003 and Anderson is confident of a repeat.
"Australia and Ireland sold out the match at Subiaco Oval in 2003 while the end of October is a great time to be in Melbourne in the lead-up to the Spring Carnival," he said.
