Fingue claim first All-Ireland honours

A marvellous display of marksmanship by Kerry senior player and All-Star Paul Galvin gave Fingue their first All-Ireland Junior football championship title at O’Moore Park with a 1-14 to 0-06 win over Stewartstown Harps in Portlaoise today.

On a team which contained four Galvin’s, it was Paul who proved the ultimate star,  giving an exhibition of scoring and finishing with a tally of 1-7.

Fingue were quickest out off the blocks and led by 0-3 to 0-0 early on with two of those points coming from Paul Galvin.

Peter Armour kept the Tyrone side in touch with a point but Fingue were marshalling their defence well and continued to add scores.

At the break the score stood at 0-6 to 0-4 in favour of the Kerry and Munster champions and they continued their dominance early into the second half with Paul Galvin shooting two early points.

Stewartstown were unable to get on top of their opponents despite the best efforts of Peter Armour, who narrowed the gap to three with his fourth minute point.

After 10 minutes Fingue led by double scores and when Paul Galvin sent a thunderous  shot to the back the title was destined for the Kingdom.
