Kevin Kilmurray was ratified tonight as the Offaly senior football manager.

Kilmurray was an All-Ireland senior winner with Offaly in 1971 and 1971, and also won an All-Ireland club title with University College, Dublin. He has been involved with the St Brigid's club in Blanchardstown, where he now lives.

However, the ratification was not without controversy as International Rules star Ciaran McManus called into question the manner in which the candidates were selected.

McManus asked specifically if former manager Gerry Fahy had been interviewed.

It is the latest twist in the recent troubled history of Offaly football, coming on the back of a row between players and the Offaly County Board which erupted six weeks ago over Fahy's dismissal.

Eugene McGee was brought in as an intermediary during the row and hammered out an agreement. However, it seems that there is residual bad-feeling over the issue.
