Luke Dempsey was appointed as the new Longford football manager following a county board meeting last night.
Former Leitrim manager Declan Rowley will work alongside Dempsey in a coaching capacity.
Dempsey was in charge of the Carlow footballers after taking over at short notice before this year's Championship and the Carlow county board were hoping he would remain there.
Dempsey opted for Longford though, which is much closer to his Mullingar base.
