Limerick maintain their unbeaten start

Unbeaten Limerick continue to head the Division 1B standings following their 2-10 to 1-09 win over Wexford at the Gaelic Grounds, with two goals in either half from corner forwards Eoin Keating and Maurice Horan proving to be the decisive scores.

A first minute score from Stephen Kelly was ominous for the visitors as half forward Kelly then broke open the Wexford rearguard sufficiently for Keating to shoot first time and score a three-pointer after just three minutes.

A Muiris Gavin free and Keating's first point on 18 minutes put the home side 1-03 to 0-01 in front, with Wexford captain Mattie Forde scoring from a right-sided free.

John Hudson struck over his fourth league score on 24 minutes as Wexford rallied through a Gary O'Grady point and a second free from Forde for a 0-04 to 1-06 deficit at the break.

However, Limerick really began to motor in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Kelly hit over their first score of the period before a Gavin free and a 48th minute goal from Horan, who blasted home an unstoppable shot from ten yards after latching onto a Gavin long ball, extended their lead.

The Munster men's 2-09 to 0-04 lead was eaten into by a goal from Forde seven minutes later. Wexford then closed the deficit to five points, with Scott Doran, Leigh O'Brien and Forde (0-02) rounding off the scoring, as Limerick could only respond with one point from Horan in the last ten minutes.
