Tyrone's victorious All-Ireland Football squad arrived back in the county with the Sam Maguire Cup yesterday evening, ending a 119 year wait. The Ulster and National Football League champions, who defeated Armagh in the final at Croke Park on Sunday by three points (0-12 to 0-09), crossed the border from Monaghan shortly after 6pm.
The team bus then made the short journey to the village of Aughnacloy, where it was greeted by an estimated crowd of 20,000 people. There were more jubilant scenes as the entourage arrived in Ballygawley, home to manager Mickey Harte's and star captain Peter Canavan's club Errigal Ciarán.
The biggest crowd of the evening, however, was assembled in Omagh, with a reported 60,000-strong crowd there to greet Harte's League and Championship double-winners.
