Peter Forde has resigned as manager of the Sligo senior football team, following their exit from this year's Championship at the hands of Donegal yesterday.
Forde, a former Mayo player, was appointed as Mickey Moran's successor in August 2000, leading the Yeats County to the Connacht final last year before losing out to Armagh in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
This season Forde's charges were knocked out of the Connacht Championship by Mayo, before yesterday's disappointing five point loss to Donegal ruled out the back-door route this time around.
