An eventful day in Cork saw reigning champions Sligo IT knocked out of this year's Datapac Sigerson Cup at the quarter-final stage. The Connacht side were beaten by a solitary point after a marathon contest which saw two periods of extra-time required to separate the teams. NUI Maynooth eventually emerged winners after an exhausting contest on a scoreline of 0-13 to 1-09 at The Farm.
Maynooth will now meet NUI Galway in tomorrow's first semi-final following their 3-08 to 1-10 victory over hosts NUI Cork at The Mardyke. In the other quarter-finals, extra-time was also needed as University of Ulster Jordanstown overcame St Mary's 2-11 to 1-13 at Ballincollig, while UCD booked their place in the last four against UUJ with a 1-10 to 1-07 success over Queen's University Belfast at the CIT Grounds.
