Delighted Barry hails Dunshaughlin victory

Dunshaughlin boss Eamonn Barry says his team's AIB Leinster Club Football final win over Mattock Rangers is 'something special'. The 0-13 to 0-7 win in Navan ensured that Dunshaughlin are the first team from Meath to win the championship since Walterstown in 1984. Dunshaughlin will now face Crossmolina in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Barry, who was a member of the Walterstown team which won in 1981 and 1984, believes that the Leinster title is a step up for his team. 'After winning three county titles, we were wondering if there was anything left and last year we were so envious and jealous but delighted for Rathnew when, after they beat us, they went on to win the Leinster title.

'We knew that we had it in us to do the same and we are back playing really well over the last two months and we are four points a better team now,' he told the Star.

Mattock coach Des Lane said: 'It has still been a great year for Mattock and I am humbled to stand there with them, because they are great lads with huge commitment and have shown great talent.'
