Harte succeeds McRory as Tyrone manager

Mickey Harte has been named as the new manger of the Tyrone senior footballers. Harte, a former county player, replaces Art McRory and Eugene McKenna. McRory stepped down for health reasons last month while McKenna failed the secure the appointment as a sole candidate.

Harte is likely to name Fr. Gerard McAleer as his assistant as the pair have been jointly in charge of the Tyrone minor and under 21 teams during the past decade, during which time they won six Ulster and three All-Ireland titles.

Harte is currently in charge of county champions Errigal Ciaran.
