Former Meath star Colm Coyle is the new manager of the Monaghan senior football team.
The Monaghan County Committee confirmed Coyle's anticipated appointment at a meeting in Cremartin GAA clubhouse tonight. The Farney County have endured a miserable time of late, but the County Committee will be hoping that the high-profile triple All-Ireland winner Coyle, who succeeds Jack McCarville, can kick-start a revival in the team's fortunes.
The news, however, will mean Meath manager Sean Boylan will have to appoint a new selector – a job Coyle performed for the last two years.
Meanwhile, at the same meeting in south Monaghan, Seamus Meehan was appointed as manager of the county's minor football team and John Andrews was installed as the new Monaghan senior hurling manager.
