Two county managers tonight resigned their posts after their counties were defeated in the All-Ireland Football Qualifiers. Brian White quit his post as Antrim manager following his team's one point defeat to Westmeath, 1-10 to 0-14, while Pete McGrath stepped down as manager of the Down football team after Down were beaten by Longford, 1-16 to 0-14, at Pearse Park.
Elsewhere, Roscommon beat Waterford 3-19 to 3-11 in Dungarvan, Westmeath overcame Antrim by a single point in Casement Park, 0-14 to 1-10 and Louth saw off Monaghan 2-11 to 1-08 in Clones. Tyrone beat Wexford by two points at Wexford Park, 1-9 to 0-10, while at Dr Cullen Park, Laois comprehensively beat Carlow, 0-18 to 0-9. At Aughrim, Wicklow beat London, 2-22 to 2-6.
