Sligo players jet out to New York

Sligo fly out to America today to play New York in the Bank of Ireland Football Championship making it the first Championship game to be held there since Kerry v Cavan in the Polo Grounds in 1947. It also marks the first time that Sligo and New York will meet in the Bank of Ireland Football Championship.

And to celebrate the occasion, the Sam Maguire trophy will be at Shannon Airport today to see off the Sligo team from 11.30am in the departure lounge, where 1,000 Sligo supporters are gathering before flying over to support their team.
