Roscommon beat Dublin – NFL Round-up

Roscommon defeated Dublin by 2-12 to 0-16 in the National Football League Division 1A at Parnell Park today. The Connacht side led Dublin by five points at half-time but Dublin fought back strongly in the second half to draw level at 0-15 to 1-12 with only a minute to go. But Roscommon made sure of the points with a Stephen Lohan goal in stoppage time. Substitute Shay Keogh clawed a point back for the Dubs but it wasn't enough and Roscommon held on for an impressive win.

Galway defeated Offaly by 1-13 to 0-15 but it wasn't enough for the All-Ireland champions to figure in the next stages as Tyrone comfortably overcame Westmeath by 2-15 to 2-08. Elsewhere in Division 1A, Donegal made sure of their presence in the knock-out stages, beating Cork 1-12 to 0-09. Leading 1-06 to 0-05 at half-time, Donegal consolidated their lead in the second half and three points apiece from Adrian Sweeney and Brendan Devenny and a goal from Kevin Rafferty was enough to help see of Cork.

In Division 1B, Mayo overcame Derry by 0-16 to 2-08, while Fermanagh beat Sligo by 2-09 to 0-11. Fermanagh's first-half performance was the key to victory when their full forward line was unstoppable. In Division 1B's other game, Kildare defeated Down 1-17 to 1-10.

In Division 2A, Kerry narrowly beat Armagh by 2-10 to 2-09, with all four goals coming in the first half. Leitrim beat London by 1-16 to 0-08, with Antrim beating Wicklow by two points with a scoreline of 0-13 to 1-08.

Elsewhere today, Meath beat Wexford 2-07 to 1-09 in Division 2B, Tipperary beat Longford by 1-12, Carlow edged out Waterford by 0-12 to 0-11 and Laois overcame Monaghan by 2-16 to 1-11.
