Meath midfielder John McDermott has decided to retire from Inter county football. McDermot has been one of the most dominant midfield figures in the game over the last 12 years and in his time helped Meath to All-Ireland glory in 1996 and 1999. He also won All-Stars in 1996 and 1998 and was a member of the succesful 2001 International Rules squad.
