Kildare may forfeit point

Mick O'Dwyer's Kildare team face the possibility of losing the point earned from yesterday's draw with Sligo in the Allianz National Football League. The Lilywhites inadvertently used six substitutes during the game which is contrary to the rules.

If it’s proven, Sligo could be declared the winners of the game. However, the Sligo County Board have refused to speculate on whether or not they’ll be awarded the points. “All I will say is that the Sligo officials, players and supporters left Newbridge very happy to have got a draw. Anything after that, it’s up to the officials. We won’t be raising the issue or highlighting it. But if the rule is broken and it’s in the referee’s report, it’s a different situation,” said Sligo County Board chairman Joe Queenan.

The issue won’t be resolved until the Games Administration committee convenes on February 20.
