Tipperary's All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Brendan Cummins has been named at full-forward on the county football team to take on Laois in Portarlington in the opening round of the Allianz Football League. The last time Cummins lined out in a football match for his county was three-and-a-half years ago against Kerry in the Munster final.
The Tipp star was unable to play in 1999 after he suffered a leg injury that made it uncomfortable to kick the ball while in 2000 and 2001 he opted to concentrate on playing hurling. There are two new faces in the Tipperary line-up with Niall Sheehan and Michael Tarrant named at left corner-back and midfield respectively.
