Whelan out of second test

Dublin's Ciaran Whelan has been ruled out of Friday's second International Rules test match against Australia. The midfielder picked up a hamstring injury during training this week but the problem has not responded to treatment as well as was hoped and so Whelan will not be considered for selection. Niall Buckley is also out with a hamstring injury while Dermot McCabe trained with the squad but failed in his bid to regain fitness having missed the first test.

The team for Friday's match is as follows: Goalkeeper - Cormac Sullivan; Full-back line - Graham Canty, Darren Fay and Seán Marty Lockhart; Half-back line - Anthony Rainbow, Kieran McGeeney and Seán Óg de Paor; Midfield - Dara Ó Sé and Seamus Moynihan; Half-forward line - Dermot Earley, Michael Donnellan and Tadgh Kennelly; Full-forward line - Graham Geraghty, Anthony Tohill and Brendan Devenney.
