Lyons favourite for Dublin post

Former Offaly manager Tommy Lyons has emerged as the clear favourite to replace Tommy Carr as the next Dublin football manager. Four candidates have been nominated for the post, in a list which does not include Brian Mullins or former boss Pat O’Neill.

Apart from Lyons, the other candidates are Val Andrews, who brought Cavan to the Ulster final this year, former goalkeeper and outgoing selector John O’Leary, and Paul Caffrey, who lead Na Fianna to the first two of their recent three-in-a-row county titles.

Tommy Carr was sacked as Dublin manager earlier this month when the County Board voted to dismiss him.
