The management committee of the Dublin County Board have voted by a margin of four votes to three not to ratify Tommy Carr and his selectors to continue their managerial roles with the Dublin senior football team. That recommendation will now come before the county board meeting at Parnell Park next Monday evening where the delegates will have their say on the matter. Carr and selectors Richie Crean, Dom Twomey and John O'Leary will also be present at that meeting.
Carr was given a two-year extension on his contract last October and yesterday the Dublin County Board denied that his position was under threat. Carr and his selectors have the backing of the players and Dessie Farrell, the team captain, sent a letter to last night's meeting indicating the team's support. Meanwhile, former Derry manager Brian Mullins is said to be the front-runner for the position should it become available.
