France
FIFA Ranking: 5
Nickname: Les Bleues
Coach: Herve Renard
How they qualified: Few teams qualified for this year's World Cup as impressively as France. Under previous manager Corinne Diacre - who has since left after three senior players indicated they would not play for the abrasive coach - Les Bleues did not drop a point and conceded only four goals, scoring 54 in a group containing Wales, Slovenia, Greece, Estonia and Kazakhstan.
Previous tournaments: The hosts went out of the last Women's World Cup at the quarter-final stage. Les Bleues’ best finish in the tournament was fourth in 2011.
Prospects: Anyone who saw the French in Tallaght last week would be of the opinion that Renard's team could have a very big say in this tournament. Renard is renowned for his miracle-making at tournaments, most recently guiding Saudi Arabia to that seismic win over eventual champions Argentina at the 2022 World Cup. He has Amandine Henry, who had not played for France in for two and half years amid a row with Diacre available, as well as the imperious Wendie Renard.
Brazil
FIFA Ranking: 8
Nickname: The Selecao
Coach: Pia Sundhage
How they qualified: Brazil beat Colombia 2-1 in the 2022 Copa America final. The two finalists, plus third-placed team Argentina received spots at the World Cup.
Previous tournaments: Not the same dominant outfit as their male counterparts. Ever-present since 1991, their best result was beaten finalists in 2007. Having gone out at the last-16 stage the past two tournaments, they will be striving to improve on that.
Prospects: After winning a fourth consecutive Copa America, Brazil are hopeful they have found the right balance between experience, emerging talent and natural flair to deliver a first Women's World Cup trophy. Key to those hopes will be the return to the squad of 37-year-old Marta, the team's record scorer, who will be playing in her sixth World Cup after spending just over a year on the sidelines due to injury. Having beaten Germany and lost only on penalties to England, the South Americans will fancy their chances against anyone in the knockout stages.
Jamaica
FIFA Ranking: 43
Nickname: 'The Reggae Girlz'
Coach: Lorne Donaldson
How they qualified: Jamaica finished second in Group A of last year's CONCACAF W Championship after a loss to the United States and victories over Haiti and Mexico. The top two from each group qualified for the World Cup.
Previous tournaments: This will be Jamaica's second World Cup appearance after becoming the first Caribbean participants in the tournament's history in the 2019 edition in France where they lost all three of their games.
Prospects: Jamaica's preparations for the World Cup have been anything but smooth with the squad complaining about a lack of support and planning from their country's federation. Drawn in a tough group, Jamaica are unlikely to make it to the knockout stages but will target their first victory at a World Cup when they meet confederation rivals and newcomers Panama.
Panama
FIFA ranking: 52
Nickname: Las Canaleras
Coach: Nacho Quintana
How they qualified: Despite not having gained automatic qualification, Panama booked a historic spot at the World Cup by beating Paraguay 1-0 in their inter-confederation playoff final.
Previous tournaments: They have taken part in three previous editions of the CONCACAF Women's Championship, with fourth place in 2018 being their best result until this year's first appearance at the World Cup.
Prospects: Panama have shown admirable resilience and determination after their historic qualification. They will face a tough Group F in their quest to reach the knockout stage, taking on Brazil, Jamaica and France.
