The Irish show jumping team of Max Wachman with Tipperary, Matt Garrigan with Grace V, Niall Talbot with Charming Dream Z and Lt Michaeli Byrne with the Niall and John Mullins-bred mare MSH Claregalway (ISH) finished third in Sunday Longines EEF Nations Cup at Mannheim in Germany.

This year marks the sixth running of the European Equestrian Federation (EEF) Series, with Mannheim the first of two opportunities for Ireland to gain points in a bid to qualify for this year's EEF Series final which will be held in Avenches, Switzerland in September.

Ireland were in share of third place at the halfway stage on a score of four faults. Jessica Kurten's team produced a flawless second round with Byrne and Wachman both completing double clear performances while Garrigan was also clear second time out.

That left Ireland on a final score of four faults, the same score as Belgium who finished as runners-up with a faster time than the Irish and just a fence behind the home team from Germany who took victory as the only team to finish on a zero score.
