Team Ireland came home second in the five-star Longines League Of Nations overnight in Florida.

The team of Bertram Allen, Cian O'Connor, Tom Wachman and Shane Sweetnam led at the half-way stage after three clear rounds out of four, with Wachman's one-fence down round being excluded.

Allen opened Ireland's second round run with an eight fault score but back to back clear runs from Cian O'Connor kept the team in the conversation for a win.

Anchor rider Sweetnam then managed a double clear round with Ireland's eight-fault score enough for second place behind Germany, who had one four-fault score overall. Belgium, meanwhile, were third on 12 faults.

Ireland now sit in third place on the Longines League Of Nations table heading into the third leg of the series at Rotterdam in The Netherlands in mid June.
