Olympic showjumper Bertram Allen charged with drink driving and property damage in Florida

Olympian Bertram Allen has been arrested and charged with drink driving and damage to property in Florida.

The showjumper, originally from Wexford, was booked in Palm Beach County, Florida on 14 January.

The 30-year-old represented Ireland at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Games and was picked as an alternate for Paris 2024 but had to withdraw after his horse Pacino Amiro picked up an injury.

Allen was in Florida to take part in the 12-week long Winter Spectacular Show Series in Ocala.

He is recognised as one of Ireland's leading competitors within the sport.
