Denis Lynch pockets €100,000 after runner-up finish in Riyadh

Tipperary's Denis Lynch and the 16-year-old stallion Cordial secured a runner-up finish on Saturday in the five-star Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

A thrilling 11-horse jump-off saw Lynch take the lead with a clear in 43.66 seconds and he looked set for victory until the very last combination.

Germany’s Jana Wargers and Dorette OLD, snatched the win with an incredible clear in 41.71 seconds.

Lynch took home €100,000 for his second-place finish and the result saw the Tipperary rider finish fourth overall on the 2025 LCGT championship table.

Elsewhere, Olympic bronze medalist Cian O’Connor has been in good form across the Atlantic after recording three podium finishes at the five-star Mexican fixture in Monterrey.

O'Connor began the week with victory in Wednesday’s 1m45 speed class with the eight-year-old gelding Pegasus.

He partnered Kentucky TN to a third-place finish in Friday’s 1.50m Grand Prix Qualifier, while on Saturday, he was back among the prizes with Pegasus when finishing as runner-up in a 1.50m class.
