Darragh Kenny won the 1.50m speed class as Irish riders recorded multiple top placings at the CSI5* show in Bridgehampton, USA over the weekend.
Kenny began the show on Thursday with a second-place finish in the 1.45m speed stakes, riding Eddy Blue, owned by Kerry Anne LLC.
A new partnership for Kenny, this 11-year-old bay gelding is showing his talent. The pair have won two international classes so far and this is the first CSI5* they have contested.
Kenny jumped a foot-perfect clear round to stop the clock in 31.95 seconds, just behind Rene Dittmer in 31.18 seconds.
This was a sign of things to come for this combination and on Saturday evening they claimed victory in the 1.50m $78,000 The Agency Hampton Classic Speed Cup , jumping clear in 69.27 seconds.
McLain Ward took second place in a time of 69.68 seconds.
Conor Swail added to the Irish success coming home in third place with Vital Chance de la Roque.
This is the 15th top ten international placing this year for the 14-year-old gelding owned by Mannon Farm.
In Sunday's 1.60m CSI5* Grand Prix Kenny finished seventh with Chic Chic, owned in partnership between Kenny and Vlock Show Stables.
In the 1.45m CSI2* Grand Prix at the same venue, four Irish riders finished inside the top six. Swail took the runner-up spot behind Nayel Nasser for Egypt. Riding the 16-year-old gelding Count Me In, Swail jumped double clear to finish less than a second behind Nasser.
Irish rider Philip McGuane completed the podium, riding the nine-year-old mare Orphea HQ, owned by Evergate Stables LLC.
Jonathan Corrigan was fifth with Oaky Flandria. The nine-year-old mare is owned in partnership between Maarten Huygens and Twin Oaks Ventures LLC. Completing the Irish quartet was Conor O’Regan and Mendini DR, owned by Dynomite Ranch LLC, coming home in sixth place.
Meanwhile, Kilkenny's Ger O’Neill and the Martin Egan-owned Ballyshan BF Super Hero (ISH) secured victory in the prestigious Irish Breeders Classic final at Barnadown, Co Wexford on Sunday, with O’Neill completing a hat-trick of victories in what is one of the most lucrative young horse competitions in Europe for five and six-year-old horses.
