Ireland's show jumping team will compete in Sunday’s Longines FEI Nations Cup final after finishing fifth in qualifying in Barcelona.
Darragh Kenny, Peter Moloney, Cian O'Connor and Paul O'Shea needed to finish in the top eight to reach the final, with a tally of just 10 faults ensuring they comfortably achieved that feat.
Ireland will be joined in the final by France, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Colombia, with the latter two nations battling Ireland to secure an Olympic qualifying berth.
All teams will start Sunday's final on a zero score and the action will be streamed live on the FEI’s official YouTube channel.
Ireland team manager Rodrigo Pessoa was delighted to make it through to the final, but knows there is still plenty of work to do to complete Ireland's main goal.
"We did our job today and have made it through to the final. We were pushed all the way by some strong teams, we had some good rounds today and now we have to finish the task and try to take the Olympic place on Sunday," he said.
