Judy Reynolds has become the first ever Irish Dressage rider to reach the Freestyle To Music Final at a World Equestrian Games.

The Kildare woman delivered a brilliant performance in the Grand Prix Special Final on Friday night at Tryon, North Carolina to progress.

However, she will have to wait until Monday at least, with Sunday's programme postponed due to Tropical Storm Florence, which is currently battering the southeastern coast of the United States.

In a statement, Horse Sport Ireland said: "The latest weather forecast from the National Weather Service, which has an onsite weather station at the games venue, shows heavy rain starting on Saturday evening through Sunday.

"As a result, it is planned to move the final jumping phase for eventing to Monday (starting time to be confirmed).

"Today’s cross country remains unaffected and will start at 4.0pm Irish time as planned, but the interval between horses will be reduced from four to three minutes. The cross country distance is unchanged at 5,700 meters but there are modifications to two fences.

"Depending on further official weather updates, it is the intention to reschedule Sunday’s dressage freestyle to Monday."

Riding the Joe and Kathleeen Reynolds-owned gelding Vancouver K, Reynolds improved on her score from Wednesday's first qualifier, to post a score of 73.982% which placed her in the top 15 who make it through to Sunday's freestyle final.

"I was really, really happy with the test, it was pretty much mistake free. He (Vancouver K) was really with me in the ring," she said.

"The heat was pretty extreme but he really dug deep and gave me everything he could.

"The support from home has been amazing, every day we wake up and there are so many messages, it's just amazing support."

Sunday's showpiece finale will see Reynolds debut her new freestyle test with music from "Lord Of The Dance."
