Irish Olympic eventer Jonty Evans is being treated in hospital intensive care after a cross-country fall during the Tattersalls International Horse Trials.
English-based Evans, who finished ninth at the 2016 Rio Olympics, fell from Cooley Rorkes Drift during Sunday's CIC three-star competition at the event in Co Meath.
The 46-year-old was initially taken to hospital in Blanchardstown before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.
A statement released on the Tattersalls Horse Trials twitter feed on Monday said: "Following further evaluation at Beaumont Hospital, Jonty Evans is in the neuro intensive care unit and his condition is being monitored and treated."
Evans' horse was uninjured following the fall, which happened at the second part of a water complex.
Cooley Rorkes Drift was considered for sale by its owner last year, but Evans launched a crowd-funding campaign to keep the ride, and a target figure of almost €700,000 was successfully raised.
