Italy’s Lorenzo De Luca and Ensor de Litrange Lxii triumphed in the €200,000 Longines Grand Prix of Ireland on the final day of the Dublin Horse Show at the RDS.
Tipperary's Shane Breen and Golden Hawk were one of four combinations that managed to jump clear over a testing first round course and the pair set the bar high in the jump-off when they left the fences standing while clocking 48.07 seconds.
However, De Luca and Ensor de Litrange Lxii knocked over half a second off that mark with a startling effort of 47.44.
America’s Audrey Coulter and Capital Colnardo knocked a single fence in the jump-off and finished second.
Cian O’Connor was last to go with Good Luck and looked to be up on the clock heading to the second-last fence. However, their chances ended when they failed to negotiate a tight turn, eventually finishing fourth.
Meanwhile, Irish riders dominated the Speed Championship, filling all of the top four places.
Cork-born Shane Sweetnam scorched to victory with the 15-year-old Cyklon ultimately prevailed in 67.41.
