Ireland has secured an individual dressage slot for the Rio Olympic Games.
This adds to the team place already secured in eventing and the individual showjumping place secured earlier in the week bringing the total of Irish Equestrian athletes at the games to at least six.
The individual dressage place was confirmed this morning by the international equestrian governing body, the FEI, following the 6 March cut-off date for the Olympic rankings.
Ireland was allocated the place as a result of Judy Reynolds' Olympic ranking. It is up to the Association who to nominate but that is expected to be the Kildare native.
Horse Sport Ireland chairman Prof. Patrick Wall said: "Judy is raising the profile of dressage in Ireland. Her qualification for Rio is fantastic and should get more young people participating in the sport in Ireland, which will pay dividends for the entire sport-horse industry.
"Today's news means that Team Ireland Equestrian will have at least six athletes competing at the Rio Olympics Games. With the such fantastic talent available to us it should be an event to look forward to," he added.
