Dutch showjumper Jeroen Dubbeldam completed a stunning treble as he was crowned European individual champion in Germany on Sunday as Irish representatives Bertram Allen and Denis Lynch struggled to make an impact.
Dubbeldam added European gold to the world title he clinched last September, which came 14 years after he won individual gold at the Sydney Olympics.
Riding SFN Zenith, Dubbeldam rounded off an emphatic performance by the Netherlands in Aachen, as the Dutch quartet of Dubbeldam, Jur Vrieling, Maikel van de Vleuten and Gerco Schroder took European team honours two days ago.
Belgium's Gregory Wathelet claimed the individual silver medal on Conrad de Hus, with Frenchman Simon Delestre taking bronze aboard Ryan des Hayettes.
Allen and Molly Malone V finished in 16th, with Lynch and All Star 5 one place further back.
