Denis Lynch got into the prize money at the five-star show in Paris with a second place in the jump-off today, while fellow Irish
rider Jessica Kurten was just half a second behind.
Lynch, 35, riding Thomas Straumann's gelding Nabab's Son, could not equal the blistering time set by Sweden's Rolf-Goran Bengtsson and Quintero La Silla, who shaded the Tipperary man by just under two seconds in the six horse jump-off and collected the €9,000 first prize.
Lynch took €6,000 for his runner-up spot, while Kurten, riding
Georgina Forbes's French-bred mare Castle Forbes Myrtille
Paulois, received €4,500 for her third place at the Grand Palais.
Neither Irish rider could produce a clear first round on the
formidable track of the afternoon's €200,000 Grand Prix, however,
with four faults apiece pushing them down to a tenth place for Kurten and an 11th for Lynch.
